Vintage synthetic ruby wedding set dating to the mid 20th century. Lab-created rubies are set into a wonderful fishtail style engagement ring and channel set wedding band. This coordinating set features a round cut ruby in a square shaped mounting. Four carre cut rubies are channel set, two on each side, sloping up to the main stone. The fishtail claws on the centre round created ruby are white and the rest of this ring is gold. The coordinating wedding band is set with nine carre cut lab created rubies. In both rings the channel set stones are lined in a very fine and delicate milgrain beaded edge. Circa 1940s - 1950s, North American in origin.

This set is gorgeous! The synthetic rubies are beautifully matched in colour. The rubies in both of this ring are synthetic, meaning that they were created in a lab. The process of lab creating rubies dates to the mid 19th century with the availability of doing so on a commercial scale dating to the early 20th century. Lab created rubies have the same chemical properties as natural rubies and have simply been created in a lab rather than mined.

Engagement ring stamped 14K PALL. Also contains a maker's mark of EWRo for E.W. Reynolds Co, a Californian based jeweller during the Art Deco era to mid 20th century. Professionally tested and assessed as 14 carat yellow gold and white claws as palladium. Wedding band stamped 14K. Professionally tested and assessed as 14 carat yellow gold.
