Beautiful vintage sterling silver engraved locket. This sweet little locket is rectangle or book shaped. The front is detailed with a ridged design giving an almost matte look. Engraved flowers and leaves line three sides of the front of this locket. The contrast between the matte looking ridged design and shiny flowers make the floral design stand out to spectacular effect. The fourth, un-engraved edge of the front is large enough to engrave initials or a monogram in a column. Circa 1970s.
The inside contains little fabric pieces making a background for photos. This style of locket doesn't have frames. The internal edges have an unseen lip and photos are pushed in, catching on the lip which holds them securely. This was wonderfully modern at one point, making it easy to secure photos without the older style extra pieces and little frames which could be misplaced. Clear plastic covers are in place to place over your photos to protect them.
British hallmarks for sterling silver and tested as such.
Chain measures 45.5 cm / 18 inches long and is approx 1.7 mm in width. The chain is a modern addition.
Measures 2 cm by 1.53 cm, approx 0.79 inches by 0.60 inches.
