Vintage sapphire and diamond engagement ring dating to the mid 20th century. A lovely deep blue step cut sapphire is bezel set within a halo of diamonds. A dainty beaded edge lines the edge of the sapphire. Engraved shoulders slope elegantly down the band and are engraved with a ribbon or baguette design with a double row of beading. The top of the gemstone set cluster is white as are the shoulders while the back of the band is yellow in colour.
This ring sits a bit higher off the finger indicating that it's closer to mid 20th century in design. The higher set also means that it's easier to pair with a wedding band making this an excellent engagement ring. Circa mid 1930s to late 1940s, likely British in origin.
In very good condition, ready to wear!
Sapphire: blue, square shape, step cut, approx 3 mm in size and calculated as 0.20 carats within the limits of the mounting.
Diamonds: 12 total, approx 1.4 mm to 1.5 mm to total 0.16 carats as calculated within the limits of the mounting.
There is a set of faded markings which I'm unable to decipherer, it looks to be a woman / goddess, a unicorn and a W though the first two don't tie to any British hallmarks I've aware of. W is the date letter for 1921 but that's likely too early for this ring. Ring is professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold which is yellow and white in colour.
