Beautiful vintage purple colour change synthetic sapphire ring. A large round cut lab created sapphire is held in six set of delicate double claw prongs. The sapphire is a nice colour, almost like an amethyst, crafted in 14 carat rose gold. This is a great cocktail ring! The sapphire changes from purple to blue depending on the lighting making it quite the wonderful piece for a night out! In warmer light, such as what's used in houses, the stone is more purple, and in cooler light, such as what's commonly used in offices and work environments, it's more blue in colour.
The gemstone is set in a pretty rex style collet with abstract flower shapes in the side. A stylish tapered band which is wider at the back, tapers to a point where the band meet the collet. Circa mid 20th century.
Sapphire: synthetic / lab created, colour changing, round cut measuring approx 12.15 mm and calculated as approx 5.6 carats within the limits of the mounting. The sapphire is in very good condition showing only the most minor signs of facet wear.
Stamped 18 on the back centre of the band and 14k inside the band, professionally tested and assessed as at least 14 carat gold which is rose in colour.
Size: UK - L.5; US - 6; EU - 16,5. I don't think this ring started life as a ring, the base of the stone's collet, where it touches the finger, doesn't curve which usually indicates a conversion. It also means that it cannot be popped into a ring mandrel to get an accurate sizing. We determined size by measuring in the interior in mm and averaging, converting to UK and US sizes. This ring is not suitable to resize down due to how it's been made. It can be sized up to Q.5 / 8.5 / 18,5. Sizing available for an additional fee.
Measures approx 12.15 mm across top by 8.4 mm deep. 2.6 mm band.
Weighs 4.2 grams.
