Vintage opal single stone ring dating to the late Art Deco era. A lively oval shaped opal has a high domed cabochon cut. Four sets of double claw prongs, to the north, south, west and east in the compass style, secure the opal in a subtle way letting the gemstone be the main focus. The shoulders are topped in white and pinch near the opal. From the top the gold band can just been seen between the fingers. The opal is beautiful and fiery, a lovely colour and we love the higher dome of the cabochon cut. Circa Art Deco to mid 20th century.
Opal: oval in shape, approx 10 mm by 6.6 mm. This opal is white in body colour with very good play of colour. As usual, opals are incredibly difficult to photograph and the colours on the finger are the most accurate.
Stamped and 9ct PLAT. Professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat yellow gold with the claws in platinum.
