Mid 20th century opal single stone ring set in 22 carat yellow gold. The cabochon cut opal is set in a frilly edged bezel / rub over setting. On either side are small five petalled flowers set down into a split shank design. The band is the same width all the way around, approx 2.4 mm, and is D shape in profile with a domed exterior and flat interior. Circa 1940s, British in origin.
Opal: oval cabochon measures approx 5.9 mm by 4.4 mm. White opal with fair play of colour.
Hallmarked for 22 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham, date letter for 1948.
Size: UK - M; US - 6 1/4; EU -- 16.6. This ring can be sized between J.2 / 5 and R.5 / 9.
Measures 6.85 mm wide and 4.15 mm tall on the finger.
Weighs 1.95 grams.
