This is a stunning ring! A large purple sapphire is framed by a 9 carat yellow gold setting. Double claw prongs on the north, south, east, and west sides of the sapphire hold it in place with a wide swoopy design between each prong. From the top, the swooped curve can be seen, gleaming around the sapphire. Thin gold wire on each shoulder help to brace the setting in place and continue the curving flow of this ring. The shank or band is of medium width, flat, and sits low to the finger. 1973, London.

Sapphire: synthetic, bright purple in colour, oval in shape, medium, bright purple.  Measures approx 16.3 mm by 12 mm and is estimated to be 8 carats.

Hallmarked and tested as 9 carat yellow gold. This ring has been assayed in London, 1973.
