Lovely Victorian carnelian converted ring in 9 carat gold. The carnelian is a deep red translucent gem with a natural pale coloured stripe down one side. It's set into small and delicate claws on a narrow band of 9 carat gold which is a rosy yellow in colour.
We recently had a few antique and vintage stick pins converted to simple and wearable rings. This is one of them! The pin part of the previous piece has been detached, bent around and lasered to the head of the pin creating a ring which sits low to the finger on a narrow and delicate 1 mm gold band. The carnelian dates to the late 1800s and the conversion is modern.
