Vintage 9ct gold safety pin crafted in yellow gold. This large stock pin is a super useful piece! Formed from 1.55 mm round wire, it's a simple and classic design and can be used for a variety of purposes. I use one to pin together a shawl or kimono. I find they also work well as chain extenders, putting the clasps into the open ends to make a chain quite a bit longer, or for the men, tie pins and collar pins. This particular example is hallmarked for Deakin & Francis, a jeweller who started in the 1780s and is still business today. Circa 1970s, British in origin.
In excellent condition. This is the larger of the two pins shown together.
Hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham 1971. Maker's mark for Deakin & Francis! The gold is yellow in colour.
Measures approx 63 mm / 2.5 inches long by 8.9 mm / 0.35 inches tall and formed of 1.55 mm rounded wire.
Weighs 3.5 grams.
