Art Deco sapphire and diamond engagement ring dating to the 1920s. An incredible ring, I just love everything about it! Set to the centre is a blue French cut sapphire. The sapphire is gorgeous! A classic elongated rectangle sapphire is faceted with the table (top) cut at a 90 degree angle to the girdle (edge, widest point). This produces a gemstone with a higher crown and facets on the side generally allowing it to catch the light. This sapphire is bezel set and framed in a halo of 10 glittering single cut diamonds. The band is thicker at the back tapering to a point where it meets the gemstone set top. Circa 1920s, British in origin.

The interior is hand engraved with a personal inscription, "Cecil to Iris 30.8.28". I just love personal inscriptions, that history is amazing.

In excellent condition, showing almost no signs of wear even though it's nearly 100 years old.

Sapphire: deep blue, rectangular in shape, French cut. Measures approx 3.8 mm by 2.8 mm, calculated as 0.60 carats within the limits of the mounting.

Diamonds: 10, single cut, totally approx 0.07 carats together.

Stamped 18ct & PLAT. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold with the gemstones set into a platinum top. There is a maker's mark of S.B&S.Ld for S Blanckensee & Son Ltd, a Birmingham based jeweller in business from at least the late 19th century to the mid 20th century.

Size: UK - N; US - 6.75; EU - 17,1. This ring can be sized between J.5 / 5 / 15,6 and Q.5 / 8.5 / 18,5. Resizing would disrupt the personal inscription. Sizing available for an additional fee.

Measures approx 8.33 mm by 7 mm on top, 3.8 mm deep at sapphire. Band is 2.35 mm at back centre.

Weighs 2.7 grams.
