Antique spinel five stone ring dating to the late Victorian era. This is just the most wonderful ring! Five oval and cushion cut vivid reddish pink spinels are claw set in a graduated design. The stones are vivid and luscious, set simply in a 15 carat gold tapered band. Spinel is one of my favourite stones. It's been a fairly unknown gemstone until fairly recently with some of the most famous "rubies" in the world actually testing as spinel in more modern times. This ring is circa late 19th century.
Spinel: 5, reddish pink in colour and oval and cushion cuts. Centre measures approx 4.3 mm by 3.3 mm. 2 sides measure approx 3.5 mm by 3.3 mm. 2 sides measure approx 3.3 mm by 3 mm. Minor facet wear in keeping with age and wear. Our camera has picked up colour zoning in one of the side stones. It is present and can be seen at particular angles in good lighting under close examination.
Stamped 15ct, professionally tested and assessed as 15 carat gold, which is yellow in colour.
Size: UK - P.5; US - 8; EU - 18,2. This ring can be sized down to L / 5.75 / 16,3. It cannot be sized larger. It's been sizer up previously and is slightly out of round. Size was measured by taking an average of the inner diameter. Sizing smaller available for an additional fee.
Measures approx 6 mm wide by 14.5 mm across the finger, 4 mm deep, 2.4 mm band at back centre.
Weighs 3.6 grams.
