Antique Victorian 9 carat gold bangle. This 19th century bangle bracelet is engraved with an ivy pattern to it's top half. Ivy is a common Victorian theme, symbolising an attachment to the wearer since ivy attaches as it grows. The back half of this bangle is unadorned leaving the gold to gleam! Circa late 19th century, 1880s, British in origin.
In very good condition. This bangle is a little bit more oval than we normally find. Wrists are quite oval so I find it's a better fit for me, normally I can rotate even oval bangles but I can't spin this one on my wrist. It fastens tightly with an audible little click.
Hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham 1885. The gold is a warm colour, between modern yellow and modern rose gold as is typical for British antique gold, though much closer to yellow in colour.
Measures approx 16.5 cm / 6.5 inches in circumference. Shown on 15.9 cm / 6.25 inch wrist which is about the largest size I'd recommend for it. Measures approx 9.4 mm in width.
Weighs 10.5 grams.
