Victorian 9 carat gold locket in the most extraordinary design. An elongated oval pendant swivels in a floral boarder. The daisy style frame is sweet, very nicely done with scalloped edges of the flowers and piercing around the leaves between each flower. The centre swivels so can be seen from whatever side you put it on, but the flower adornment has a clear front and back.
The gold is a lovely bright rose gold. The locket opens on one side, hidden a bit in the edge. The inside of this locket compartment is deep, about 6 mm, so can be used for other keepsakes like hair, small notes, or gemstones. Circa 1870s - 1890s locket, believed British in origin.
In very good condition. The frame is tight and a bit tricky to get out, please do it when you have the time and patience to carefully use good lighting and a fingernail to pop it out.
Not hallmarked, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold, which is rose in colour.
Measures approx 43.6 mm / 1.72 inches tall not including the bail by 26.7 mm / 1.05 inches wide by 8 mm / 0.33 inches deep.
Weighs 14 grams total. This is a very heavy piece and should be worn on a suitable chain.
