Pretty pair of swallow earrings designed as though they are flying upward. These earrings are exquisitely designed and heavily detailed with engraved feathers on their wings and bodies. Small hooks sit close to the earlobe so the birds hang just off the ear's base. These are bright and eye -catching, small yet very symbolic. Swallows symbolise a return to home as sailors would know land was near when the birds could be seen at sea. Circa late Victorian, modern conversion.
