Old cut diamond drop earrings. These earrings are designed as a graduated line. The tops are narrower, shiny, and squared in profile leading to a line of six rose cut diamonds lined in milgrain beading. At the bottom is a larger old mine cut diamond. The differing cuts of diamonds really make these! The shiny top, the glitter of the rose cut diamonds, and the sparkle of the chunky old mine cut diamonds is a delightful combination. The old mine cut diamonds at the bottom have some of the highest crowns I've ever seen! They are nearly as deep as they are wide. The hand cut diamonds are an earlier example and are delightfully wonky with larger off centre culets and wee tiny tables. Circa early 20th century. The bottom diamonds are approx 2 generations earlier than the mounting, 18 carat white gold wasn't used in jewellery until the early Art Deco era.

Diamonds: mixed cuts. Bottom old mine cuts measure approx 2.85 mm to 2.90 mm (2.28 mm to 2.32 mm deep), 0.15 carats each. Rose cut diamonds, six in each earring, measure approx 1.75 mm each. We cannot accurately measure the weight of the rose cut diamonds. Old mine cut diamonds total approx 0.30 carat, J / K colour, VS2 and SI2 clarity as assessed with the limits of the mounting.

18 carat white gold, not marked, tested.

Measures approx 33.4 mm / 1.3 inches in total length by 3.65 mm at widest point.

Weigh 2.5 grams together, approx 1.2 - 1.3 grams each.
