Stunning emerald and diamond cluster ring dating to the mid 20th century. A lovely pale green emerald is bezel set with a frame of diamonds surrounding it. The emerald is lined in milgrain beading and the edge around the diamonds dips in and out around the gemstones creating a scalloped edge. The gemstones are set in a white top on a slender gold band which is D shape in profile and pinches in as it reaches up to the gem set top. This is a wonderful, classic engagement ring which is Art Deco in style though it dates about a generation later, 1950s, British in origin.
Emerald: square shape, step cut, approx 3.4 mm square.
Diamonds: 12, single cut, measure approx 1.4 - 1.5 mm each to total 0.16 carats total.
Hallmarked for 18 carat gold, Birmingham assay office, date letter for 1959. Also stamped PLAT indicating that the gemstone are set into a platinum top.
