Large vintage opal set in 9 carat yellow gold. The jelly opal is bluish white in body colour little flashes of green and blue. Six claws secure the gemstone with a solid collet supporting the claws. The shank is split shank in style with little engraved ridges accenting the split shank design. Jelly opals have a softer appearance which I think that makes them look a tiny bit like moonstones. This particular opal picks up some gold colour from the setting, and has some lovely little flashes or blues and green. Circa mid 20th century.

In very good condition. It shows more blue and green on the finger than in our white background.

Opal: oval shaped cabochon cut measuring approx 20 mm by 9.6 mm.

Stamped 9ct, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat yellow gold.
