Large Antique Spinel & Diamond 15ct Gold Horseshoe Pendant, Victorian Conversion
Add to Wishlist
Lovely and large 15 carat gold spinel and diamond horseshoe pendant. Alternating red gemstones and diamonds are set into the top, representing nails with three on one side and four on the other. This pendant, converted from a Victorian brooch is puffy / hallow and makes a bold statement. Horseshoe dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1880s - 1910, date of conversion unknown.
In good condition. It looks as though it was originally a brooch and we think it perhaps got caught and the pin section was repaired by creating a plate, which can be seen on the back. There are minor dents and scratches.
Stones: 7 total, 4 spinels and 3 diamonds, each measuring approx 2.1 mm to 2.3 mm.
Not marked, professionally tested as 15 carat gold. It faces up yellow in colour.
Measures approx 31.8 mm / 1.25 inches tall not including bail by 27.8 mm / 1.1 inches wide as it hangs.
Weighs 3.6 grams.
This pendant can be added to a modern 9 carat yellow gold chain as shown on model. Please choose the length you require at checkout.
