Vintage buckle design bangle bracelet dating to the 1930s. This wide sterling silver bracelet is designed with the traditional buckle design. The top third is deeply and exquisitely engraved with a scroll design across it's width. This piece is very slightly oval in shape to assist in keeping the design on the top of the wrist.
This bracelet has a rather unique way of opening! The large buckle hooks under the prong. To open one must squeeze the sides one until the buckle is clear of the prong, then lift the buckle up and the engraved section up. Fully hallmarked with Chester hallmarks for 1938.
This piece is in good condition with some minor dents in keeping with age and wear.
Full hallmarks for sterling silver, assayed in Chester, date letter for 1938 inside with partial marks on the buckle and the inside of the back of the bangle.
Measures approx 17 cm / 6.7 inches internal circumference. 3.5 cm / 1.38 inches wide at buckle and 2.6 cm / 1 inches wide at the sides and back.
