Beautiful camphor glass Art Deco pendant set with a diamond. It's hard to pull your eyes away from this piece! A frosted camphor glass piece is smooth on the front with grooved carved into the back creating a sunburst pattern. Set in the centre in a diamond shaped design is a single old European cut diamond. The diamond is outlined in a double row of milgrain beading. Around the edges on both the top and sides is intricate filigree work. The white gold filigree is dotted with a milgrain beaded design and features five petalled flowers spaced long the top side. On the sides the filigree work is done in smooth arches.
This piece used to be a brooch. Knowing that brooches aren't worn very much any longer we wanted to update this very pretty piece into something that someone would wear more often, perhaps a signature piece. The original brooch dated to the 1920s and was marked on the pin which was removed while revamping this piece. The filigree is all 14 carat white gold with a platinum top. The modern chain is 9 carat white gold. We went with a lower carat gold because 14 carat is not readily available in the UK (our standard is 9 or 18 carat) and because carat is very hard wearing.
Diamond: approx 2.45 mm, 0.06 carats, estimated as mounting permits.
No hallmarks present on the brooch, it is tested 14 carat white gold. The modern chain is 9 carat white gold, marked on clasp, and in keeping with EU standard doesn't contain nickel.
Measures 3.88 cm / 1.53 inches long by 2.1 cm / 0.83 inches wide. Chain is 42 cm / 16.25 inches long, 1.58 mm wide.
Weighs 9.35 grams. This is a sturdy piece with a delicate look.
