Art Deco 1930s platinum set diamond engagement ring. This is a wonderful diamond ring! The centre diamond is an old cut diamond, called an old European cut. It has a smaller table (top), steeper crown, chunkier facet pattern, and open culet when compared to a modern round brilliant. The centre diamond is held by corner shaped prongs giving this diamond a square look at first glance. On either side of the keystone diamond is a double row of single cut diamonds. The diamonds are set with a pierced bit between them and are lined in milgrain beading. At the far sides of the setting is a slightly large single cut diamond which is bead set in a square design turned on end to make a kite shape.
The style of this engagement ring is bold and geometric. The 1930s saw a move away from the flowing, delicate and flowery style of the Edwardian era, and the bold became the beautiful!
