Antique bee pendant crafted in 15 carat gold. This Victorian bee is incredible! The yellow gold is subtly bloomed and the bee is well sculpted and formed with great detail taken to outline veins, texture the thorax to look like little hairs, stripe the abdomen, and joint the legs. I've not seen this much detail in an antique bee pendant before and I'm fascinated by the amount of work which has gone into creating it.
This little guy came to us without a bail and we've added one. It was likely converted from another piece, maybe a pin or brooch. Circa mid to late 19th century bee, date of conversion unknown.
Diamonds: 2, roughly cut of approx 1.5 mm each.
Tag on back of wing stamped on the back as 15ct. Professionally tested and assessed as 15 carat gold throughout, which is yellow in colour.
Measures approx 24 mm / 0.95 inches tall by as it hangs, by 22 mm / 0.87 inches wide.
Weighs 2.5 grams.
This pendant can be supplied on a modern 9 carat yellow gold chain, as shown on model. Please choose the length you require at checkout.
