Will this be your lucky charm? An incredible Victorian pendant is designed as a three leaf clover. The lobed leafs, which created a subtle heart shape, are outlined in graduated old mine cut diamonds. To the centre of each of leaf in this trefoil design is a single royal blue sapphire. Where all the three leafs meet is a single prong set diamond. All the diamonds create the most fantastic sparkling design. Circa 1870s - 1880s.

In very good condition, likely this was originally a brooch or pin which has been expertly converted during it's life.

Diamonds: 21 total. Measuring between 1.1 mm to 2.2 mm to total approx 0.52 carats together, calculated within the limits of the mounting.

Sapphires: 3, bright royal blue with each measuring approx 2.85 - 2.95 mm and calculated as 0.30 carats together, calculated within the limits of the mounting.

Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold and silver.

This Victorian piece was made in a 9 carat rose-yellow gold with the gemstones set in silver.

At some point in it's life it's owner obviously decided they preferred to wear a white pendant and had it rhodium plated. We wouldn't be able to evenly remove this and didn't want it to be patchy so ensured it's in good condition, ready for years of wear. During the Victorian era silver was the only white metal in use for jewellery until the very late 19th century. Diamond were regularly set in silver but wanting a "finer" piece, most were crafted in a yellow or rose gold and then the gemstones set into silver to highlight them. This changed during the Edwardian era when platinum started being used in jewellery.

Measures approx 21.9 mm / 0.85 inches not including the bail by 17 mm / 0.65 inches as it hangs.

Weighs 2.3 grams.
