Antique Victorian pierced sterling silver book chain. This chain features a wonderful pierced star design in each link. The links are folded, hence book chain!, and puffed to the centre allowing the wider, frilly links to connect the celestial design links together. A good sized bolt clasp allows for a large pendant or locket to be attached and worn to the front or the clasp to be worn at the back. This chain is longer than most Victorian book chains we find! Circa late 19th century, 1880s - 1900, British in origin.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as sterling silver.
Measures approx 47 cm / 18.5 inches in total wearable length. The longer section is approx 43.5 cm / 17 inches and the shorter section 3.5 cm / 1.5 inches. 11.4 mm at widest point of the chain.
