Antique opal plaque ring. This navette shaped 10k gold ring is engraved with intricate design. The opal is set in the centre with 10 little claws which are formed as clusters of balls. Around the boarder is a stylised interlinked S shape with a half flower on the sides. Inside the boarder is a beaded dotted line with columns. On each shoulder are engraved triangles leading to a plain D shape profile shank. There are traces of black enamel along the edge where this ring once has some enamel within the design. Circa late 1800s.

Opal: approx 6 mm by 3.7 mm cabochon cut. We cannot tell from how it's set if it's an opal or an opal doublet.

Stamped 10K, tested and assessed as 10 carat gold.

Size: UK - L; US - 5 3/4; EU - 16 1/4. This ring is not recommended for resizing smaller, it can be made several sizes larger. Sizing available for an additional fee.

Measures approx 2.36 cm / 0.93 inches by 1 cm / 0.40 inches on the finger and stands 2.3 mm tall off the finger.
