Antique hair comb with an exquisite gilt floral design. This hair pin, dating to the late 19th century, is designed in polished steel. Three pins are long, made to stick in the hair to support the more showy top piece. This piece flairs out at the top, in a scrolling design, to match the floral pattern etched into it. The design is a two tone gilt design of flowers and leaves. A narrow boarder outlines the entire blacken top. The shiny, highly polished steel pointed pins are a wonderful contrast, both in style and colour. This lovely piece would be great to accent an up-do. Circa 1870s - 1890s.
This piece is polished steel and should be wiped cleaned after using. It will rust if left in water. The pins and back are shiny white, steel coloured. The background behind the flowers has been blackened so that the gilt design really stands out.
Measures approx 8.9 cm / 3.50 inches long by 6.2 cm / 2.45 inch wide at widest point.
Weighs 10.9 grams.
