Wonderful antique carnelian engraved intaglio crafted in 15 carat gold. This smaller fob is beautifully designed and holds a deep reddish orange carnelian carved with the head of a dragon. The dragon is highly detailed with pointed ears, lush fur, and an open mouth with his tongue on display. The cushion shaped carnelian is housed in a scallop edged frame and the top is completely engraved with an intricate foliate design. The little loop at the top allows it to easily be worn as a pendant or charm. Circa mid 19th century, British in origin.

Measures approx 21.8 mm / 0.85 inch tall and 14.1 mm / 0.55 inches by 12.5 mm / 0.50 inches on the bottom.
