Antique 9 carat gold curb link chain necklace dating to the early 20th century. This chain is formed of classic curb links, each side graduated in size creating an undulating effect. It would have originally been worn as a gentleman's watch chain though these are commonly repurposed by women to wear as necklaces. At the centre is a large t-bar as well as an extra bit of chain from which a man would put a decorative and meaningful ornament. This chain is a nice, versatile length and it's possible to wear the dog clips to the front to secure a pendant, to the back with the t-bar on display, or doubled around the wrist to form a bracelet. This piece dates to the early 20th century, British in origin.
Hallmarked for 9 carat gold and clearly and deeply stamped 9 . 375 on each link. The gold is rose in colour.
Measures approx 41 cm / 16 inches end to end. Links graduate between 5.25 mm to 7.2 mm.
Weighs 44.2 grams. This is a heavy, nicely weighted chain.
