Antique 9 carat gold dog clip dating to the late Victorian to Edwardian era. How very useful! This little sprung joy of a clip would have been an end to a chain, such as watch chain or long guard, and used to fobs, pendant or watch. The end is not clip end is a solid piece and this would be attached with another jump ring to connect it to a chain. You could also simply thread it through a narrower chain and use it as a pendant to connect other charms. We can think of lots of ideas, but we'll leave that to you! This dog clip does not swivel.
Stamped 9c on the inside as seen in the photo, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold. The gold is slightly rosy in tint, between modern yellow gold and modern rose gold in our opinion, as antique British gold often is.
Measures approx 20 mm / 0.80 inches tall by 6.85 mm / 0.27 inches wide.
