Antique sterling silver trombone link chain. What a wonderful necklace in a great length! This chain would have originally been worn on a man's pocket watch and is divided into two sections. The oblong shaped links are very simply connected together with a single rounded link in the longer section with terminates with a large jump ring to the end. A t-bar divides the sections and the oblong links alter with a series of three small rounded links in the shorter section with terminated with a large silver dog clip. Circa 1910s - 1920, British in origin.
In very good condition. The lion mark for sterling silver is very deep on a lot of the links. Slight bends to a couple of links where the assay office has impressed these links. In the video and photo showing two chains this is the chain on the left, the other chain is available separately.
Marked for sterling throughout. The dog clip has a maker's mark for J.T&S, and one of the links a date letter for 1913. The t-bar for W.J.S, date letter for 1919. I'm not sure which is a replacement. They match well in size and style though.
Measures approx 42 cm / 16.5 inches in wearable length. Long links are 20.3mm / 0.80 inch long by 4.9 mm / 0.20 inches tall.
Weighs 23.6 grams.
