Antique carnelian seal crafted in 15 carat gold. This is an absolutely incredibly seal! A rectangular shaped reddish orange stone is carved with a coat of arms. Both sides of the coat of arms are carved with a lion rampant with one having a crown on it's head. The lions are highly detailed and in wonderful condition. This is a larger seal which has a heavily engraved top. The mounting holding the carnelian is classically engraved in a ridged design. The handle is foliate in design with a small shell to the centre. At the top is a deeply ridged loop through which a chain or dog clip can be threaded to suspend it. Circa early to mid 19th century.
In excellent condition with only very minor sign of wear and age.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as 15 carat gold.
Measures approx 28.55 mm / 1.12 inches tall with the base measuring 19.5 mm / 0.77 inches by 16.2 mm / 0.64 inches.
Weighs 10 grams. This is quite a chunky, heavy seal.
