Vintage amethyst and old cut diamond engagement ring. A large cushion cut amethyst is secured in beautiful crown design 12 claw collet. The amethyst is a lovely and bright royal purple, a striking colour set between old mine cut diamonds. The flanking diamonds appear bezel with a milgrain lined frame around each. Little claws hold the diamonds in place. These three gemstones are mounted on a slender gold band which pinches in at the shoulders. Circa early 20th century.
The underside of the amethyst collet and claws have indications that some work has previously been completed. This does not notice and is not unusual, mentioned for accuracy.
Amethyst: approx 9.2 mm by 9 mm and calculated as 3 carats with the limits of the mounting. Has minor wear to facets and girdle as expected in gemstones which have been worn and loved.
Diamonds: 2, old mine cut. 1 at 3.95 mm, calculated as 0.22 carats, J / K colour, I1 clarity. 1 at 3.9 mm, calculated as 0.20 carats, K / L colour, SI1 clarity. Calculated within the limits of the mounting.
Not marked. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold. The gold is rosy in colour.
Size: UK - R; US - 8.5; EU - 18,5. This ring can be sized down to L.5 / 6 / 16,5 and is not recommended for sizing larger. Sizing available for an additional fee.
Measures approx 10.2 mm wide by 7.1 mm deep at amethyst. 1.35 mm band at back centre.
Weighs 3.3 grams.
