Vintage bee pendant crafted in 18 carat yellow gold with turquoise gemstones. This bee is highly detailed with beautifully hand engraved wings and thorax. Each section has been engraved. The wings with arches, the thorax with lines, and the legs shaped, all mimicking the details of a real life bee. We believe this to be a bee based on the shape and size of the fore wings and hind wings, but it may also be fly or another type of bug. The body is set with small half round turquoise, smaller turquoise at the edges and larger one in the centre. The gold gleams and the turquoise glows spectacularly.

This little guy came to us as an irresistible brooch. I do love bug jewellery! We made him more wearable by lasering little gold loops to the bottoms of his front feet where they cannot be seen when worn. A modern heavy 18 carat gold chain was then altered to make hooks on the end. The pointed hooks slip through the hoops so that the chain may be attached and unattached for wear as a brooch or pendant.

Turquoise: 19 pave set measuring from 1.8 mm to 2.4 mm each.

Marked on the back of the bee as 18K for 18 carat and tested as such. The chain is fully British hallmarked for 18 carat gold. The brooch pin is steel.

Measures 2.6 cm / 1 inch long with a 4 cm / 1.6 inch wing span. When worn sits approx 1.4 cm / 0.55 inches from body. Modern chain is 45.5 cm / approx 18 inches in length.

Weighs 15.9 grams total. The bee weighs 12.15 grams and the chain weighs 3.75 grams.
